EASING OF RESTRICTIONS

There is light at the end of the tunnel for Queensland with the Government cutting back COVID restrictions.

Restrictions to ease for vaccinated Queenslanders

The Queensland Government has announced that restrictions will be eased for double vaccinated Queenslanders from Friday 17 December 2021 or once the State reaches 80% fully vaccinated (whichever comes first). These measures will apply to all Queenslanders who are 16 years of age and over.

From 17th December 2021, the following measures will apply:

  • Hospitality venues including pubs, restaurants and cafes can only be visited by fully vaccinated patrons and all staff must be vaccinated. No density restrictions will apply.
  • All events at Queensland Government stadiums including Suncorp, The Gabba, Queensland Country Bank (Townsville) and Metricon (Gold Coast) will only accept fully vaccinated attendees for all events. Staff must be fully vaccinated as well.
  • Entertainment venues including live music and karaoke bars will be for vaccinated staff and patrons only.
  • Music festivals both indoor and outdoor will only accept vaccinated patrons.  Vaccinations will be mandatory for performers and staff.
  • Government-owned galleries, museums and libraries will be restricted to only vaccinated patrons and staff.
  • No limits will apply at weddings where all guests are vaccinated.
  • All visitors to Aged Care, Hospitals, Prisons and Disability Services will be required to be vaccinated except in end of life, childbirth or emergency circumstances.

Queensland Police will be responsible for enforcing the requirements of the above venues.

To assist businesses in adhering to these new measures, Minister Di Farmer MP will be issuing a range of documents over the coming days.

From 17 December 2021, the Property Council of Australia will also be implementing a ‘fully vaccinated only’ policy for our externally facing operations, such as events, courses, conferences and committees. Please visit our website for more information.
