A year of diversity progress
International Women’s Day 2017 provided an opportunity to celebrate a year of success for the Diversity Committee.
This year we launched the first Sailing with Women in Property, a sell-out event with Olympians and sailing professionals showing property professional the ropes.
We also, took the 100 Women in Property Program to a whole new level, more than doubling WA’s participation from 17 to 41.
“We are incredibly proud of the WA industry for whole heartedly embracing this program that involves a personal commitment from Property Council members to champion women in their organisation or business sphere, who they believe would benefit from further networking and professional development opportunities,” Property Council WA Executive Director Lino Iacomella said.
“The success of the Women in Property mentoring program also continued with 17 pairs set to kick off the program at an event next week.
“The 40:40:20 initiative has changed the way we not only promote women through our events, but also internally.
“All committees now have a minimum of 40% female participation as well as every event will feature a minimum of 40% female speakers.
“This initiative has proven that there is a vast array of talented and insightful women in our industry,” Mr Iacomella said.
“The WA Diversity Committee is starting strong in 2017 with many new members bringing fresh ideas. Our primary focus is still around the three pillars the committee started with in 2015: ‘Inspire & promote’, Inform & Educate’ and ‘Engage & Network’. We are really excited to see what progress we can make in the WA property community over the year ahead,” Diversity Committee Chair Shelley Phillipson said.
