#Design Perth
An initiative of the Property Council, architectural film CODA and the Greens brought together architects and students to find housing designs that could accommodate Perth’s growing population along key transport corridors, while maintaining a livable city.
The #Design Perth Charrette partnered professional architects with Masters Students from the University of WA to design-test development options for different building types in Perth on key transport corridors.
The transport corridors were previously identified in a 2013 research project Transforming Perth by The Property Council, The Greens and The Australian Urban Design Research Centre.
The design brief focused on building designs that compliment local neighborhoods and provide a high standard of amenities like affordable housing, childcare and local shopping.
Tim Horton (Registrar, NSW Architects Registration Board) flew in from Sydney as a special judge and was joined by Senator Scott Ludlum, Jo Chin (Residential Director- Pindan) and Kent Acott (The West Australian).
COX Architecture won first place with a design that proposed a mid-high density mixed-use scheme on Great Eastern Highway.
