Density is Not A Dirty Word 

The Density Challenge breakfast brought together government and industry to discuss the challenges facing urban infill.Department of Planning Director General Gail McGowan said that Perth was working hard to achieve its 47% infill target, but at current rates of just 28% there is plenty more to do.

Fremantle Lord Mayor Brad Pettit discussed in depth Fremantle’s plan to increase density within the city centre through innovative design and planning methods. Combining heritage with modern designs will make Fremantle an attractive and liveable city.

TRG Properties Chief Operating Officer Tanya Trevisan discussed her dislike for the R-coding system, saying it scares off the general public and creates false perceptions.Overall, the event was well received my attendees and the media.

Density is becoming a hot topic as governments and industry must work together to tackle the “not in my back yard” attitudes to support Perth’s sustainable future.
