Defining moment for South Australia as new Royal Adelaide Hospital welcomes staff and patients
The 5th September 2017 marked the end of an era for the Project Team as the vision of South Australia’s $2.3 billion new Royal Adelaide Hospital officially came to fruition as staff and patients were welcomed into their new home.
As one of the Governments most significant achievements, Premier Jay Weatherill and Minister Jack Snelling stood proudly as they welcomed over 200 distinguished guests for the hospitals ceremonial opening on Sunday 3rd September.
Congratulating the many individuals involved in the visualisation and execution of such an iconic facility, Premier Jay Weatherill said “The new hospital is the crowning achievement in the city’s biomedical precinct and will represent the highest standard of health care for South Australians”.
More than 24,000 people have worked on this project, and a total of 15.2 million manhours of construction completed. HY and CPB teams, and the extensive network of consultants and contractors were acknowledged by James Bramley, Chairman of Celsus, who recognised that “Cranes don’t build buildings, people do”.
Minister Jack Snelling concluded the formalities of Sunday’s ceremony adding, “The new hospital begins a new chapter, today we mark the celebration of the building and although the fabric of a hospital may change, what matters most is the spirit of those who work here. May those who work at the new RAH generously serve the people of our State”.
Commencing on this journey nearly a decade ago, the commitment, collaboration and dedication of all those involved since the inception of the project should be highly commended. What stands today is a reflection of the vision, skill and expertise of thousands of industry professionals. It has been a long and at times challenging project but we are proud of our contribution and achievement as we reach a defining moment in South Australia’s history.
Thankyou to all our clients and industry partners for supporting us through this journey.
