Darwin City Centre Masterplan takes charge
The Department of Lands, Planning and the Environment is seeking comments on a proposal that will introduce the Darwin City Centre Masterplan (2015) into the NT Planning Scheme.
The Property Council of Australia’s Director Northern Territory Ruth Palmer said “the inclusion of the Masterplan to the NT Planning Scheme is welcome news for the Property Council and our members.
“This document will guide future developments and projects for the next 20 to 30 years.
“We have been long advocating for the Darwin City Centre Masterplan to be finalised and endorsed to ensure we have strategic planning and guidelines in place that future developments and projects must follow.”
It shows that the NT Government is committed to working with the City of Darwin to make our CBD vibrant and active.
“We need commitment from all tiers of Government, the private sector and the community to activate our CBD and to accommodate the expected population growth.
“Darwin is the best place to live, work and play. The Masterplan has identified over 70 projects that will reinvigorate, reenergise and boost the local economy while also providing jobs for local Territorians.
“Darwin has an exciting future as long as we remain committed and have the right strategic planning that will see us continue to grow well into the future.”
