Industry Looking for Planning Clarity in South Perth

The Property Council is collaborating with a range of industry stakeholders to clear up confusion regarding planning processes in the City of South Perth following a Supreme Court ruling that set aside a planning approval for an apartment development. 

 It is important to note that the Court did not object to the height or scale of the development; however it did pick up on an ambiguity in the local planning scheme regarding the proportion of residential to non residential development in any proposal within the Special Control Area SCA 1 – South Perth Station Precinct. 

To ensure that the development industry has clear planning rules, the Property Council is seeking a clarification of the local scheme so that the original intent of the scheme is carried through. 

There is a significant amount of job creating investment under way and proposed in South Perth, and it is in the state’s economic interest that the South Perth planning situation is resolved quickly
