Cross River Rail Business Case Released
The Cross River Rail business case, released on 24 August, has estimated the Benefit Cost Ratio of the project at 1.41. The document, produced by Building Queensland, projects that daily public transport trips (both bus and rail) will climb from the current level of 510,000 to 1.1 million by 2036.
The Property Council had called on the Government to publicly release the business case to help inform the current debate around the project’s merits.
Importantly, the business case reiterates the Queensland Government’s commitment to fully fund Cross River Rail without the use of alternative mechanisms such as value capture. The Property Council has been a vocal opponent of utilising new property taxes to fund the project.
