Cross River Rail reaches major milestone

The Queensland Government’s most important infrastructure project – Cross River Rail – has reached a major milestone, with the announcement of the shortlisted companies bidding to build the $5.4 billion project.

The shortlist follows a comprehensive evaluation of the companies that expressed interest in the project’s major works packages: The Tunnel, Stations and Development public-private partnership; and the Rail, Integration and Systems alliance.

Tunnel, Stations and Development public-private partnership consortia shortlist:

  • CentriQ Partnerships: Plenary Group, ACCIONA, GS Engineering & Construction, Salini Impregilo and Spotless Group;
  • Pulse: CIMIC Group-led consortium, including Pacific Partnerships, CPB Contractors, UGL, BAM, Ghella and DIF;
  • Qonnect: QIC, Capella Capital, Lendlease, John Holland and Bouygues.

The Rail, Integration and Systems alliance shortlist:

  • RiverCity Alliance: Laing O’Rourke Australia Construction Pty Limited, GHD Pty Ltd, Aurecon Australasia Pty Ltd, SYSTRA Scott Lister Australia Pty Ltd;
  • Unity Alliance: CPB Contractors Pty Limited, UGL Engineering Pty Limited, Jacobs Group (Australia) Pty Ltd, AECOM Australia Pty Ltd.

The process to select the successful consortia from the lists is expected to take between 12 and 18 months. It is then anticipated that it will be a further year before construction works start on the project.

The Property Council has strongly supported the implementation of Cross River Rail and views this development as imperative, due to the expected population growth in South East Queensland. This was highlighted through the Property Council’s election priority documents
