Cool Earth energy project aims to saveLandCorp’s Cool Earth demonstration project is a new initiative that aims to test the effectiveness of a ground source heat pump system to heat and cool homes. Two identical homes will be constructed at The Vive at Craigie, an urban infill development north of Perth. One will contain the innovative heat pump system technology while the other won’t. The aim is to test the effectiveness of the technology in reducing household heating and cooling costs over two years.LandCorp says it hopes Cool Earth will yield results that point to major cost and energy savings. The project is a key deliverable of the state government’s Directions 2031 and Beyond plan to address urban sprawl and manage WA’s rapid population growth.Construction of the houses is expected to commence in early 2015.For more information, go to: http://www.propertyoz.com.au/Article/NewsDetail.aspx?p=16&id=9881
