Control order no.22 introduced
The Minister for Lands and Planning has made Interim Development Control Order No 22 to ensure the longevity of the Berry Springs Dolostone Aquifer.
A copy of the IDCO is also available here.
The IDCO requires consent for the use or development of land subject to the IDCO. The granting of consent will be subject to confirmation from the Department of Land Resource Management that the proposal does not:
• rely on the utilisation of groundwater sourced from the Berry Springs Dolostone Aquifer or
• will not detrimentally impact on the sustainability of the groundwater resource.
The impact of this IDCO is that any use or development of land overlying the Berry Springs Dolostone Aquifer will require an application for consent. Only the following minor developments that are unlikely to involve use of groundwater – business and promotion signs, a retail agricultural stall, extension to an existing single dwelling, a shade sail or a shed with a total floor area less than m2 are exempt from the need for consent.
In circumstances where a valid building permit has been issued by a registered building certifier prior to the making of this IDCO, the building may proceed to be constructed in accordance with the permit and is not subject to the provisions of this IDCO.
Development Assessment Services, who can be contacted on 8999 6046, will be happy to provide any advice in relation the need for consent for any building, land use or development being proposed.
