Short-term rental accommodation in NSW: Explanation of Intended Effect
The NSW Department of Planning and Environment is calling for feedback on proposed amendments to planning rules in order to provide for short-term rental accommodation (STRA) in NSW. STRA was formerly known as short-term holiday letting.
The proposed amendments will introduce state-wide planning rules, including a new land use definition, exempt and complying development pathways and building safety standards. The state-wide planning rules are part of a recently announced NSW Government framework for STRA, which also includes an industry-wide mandatory Code of Conduct and changes to strata legislation.
An Explanation of Intended Effect has been prepared outlining the proposed amendments to planning rules. Information on the Explanation of Intended effect can be found here.
Submissions for these new planning rules close on the 16 November, please submit feedback to [email protected]
Draft Circular Economy Policy and Discussion Paper
The NSW Government is developing a Circular Economy Policy. Circular Economy is about changing the way we produce, assemble, sell and use products to minimise waste, and to reduce our environmental impact. Circular economy can be positive for business; by maximising the use of valuable resources, and by contributing to innovation, growth and job creation.
The NSW Government has released a draft Circular Economy Policy which outlines the principles and ideas that can help to shape our approach to resource use and waste management in NSW.
They have also drafted a Circular Economy Discussion Paper, which explains these circular economy principles and how they play out around the world.
Submissions on this policy proposal closes on the 25 November, please submit feedback to [email protected]
