Construction starts on Sydney’s largest hotelThe foundation stone has been laid for the new 5-star International Convention Centre Sydney Hotel. Expected to open in 2017, the 35-storey, 600-room hotel’s striking design is set to be a Sydney landmark. The $360 million hotel is the first new luxury hotel since the 2000 Olympics and part of the broader $3.5 billion redevelopment of the Darling Harbour convention centre precinct. The hotel will be owned by Dr Jerry Schwartz and operated by AccorHotels under the luxury Sofitel Brand.The hotel will feature a unique lacework curtain wall glass facade, a rooftop club lounge, ballroom and outdoor pool deck with an infinity pool looking eastwards towards the city skyline.The Property Council welcomes the revitalisation of Darling Harbour and Barangaroo development.
