Consistency Needed For Waste Planning

  • March 06, 2015

Consistency Needed For Waste PlanningThe Property Council has supported the establishment of statutory waste group plans and local government waste plans that require these groups to align waste services and contracts with a State infrastructure plan. The importance of State planning for waste infrastructure taking a whole of government approach when formulating a long-term strategy was affirmed by the Property Council in response to the Review of the Wast Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act.Further, opportunities where waste can be better managed privately must be supported and provisions made for situations where private businesses have arrangements for the collection and processing of their own waste. The Property Council has also called for the inclusion of private sector representation on statutory waste groups to ensure that decisions are made that take into account the needs and interests of the business community. To read the Property Council’s submission to the review, click here.
