Combustible Cladding Checklist: One Month To Go

Relevant building owners have one month remaining to complete the first stage of the Queensland Government’s mandatory ‘combustible cladding checklist’.

The online checklist is part of the Building and Other Legislation (Cladding) Amendment Regulation 2018, which is aimed at identifying buildings in Queensland that may have potentially combustible cladding. The regulation is applicable to buildings that are:
• Privately or local government owned
• Class 2 – 9
• Of a type A or B construction, and were
• Built, or had the cladding altered, after 1 January 1994 but before 1 October 2018.

Building owners must register and begin the new statutory three stage process through the ‘Safer Buildings’ website. After registering through the website there are three stages that building owners may need to complete.

By 29 March 2019 relevant owners must have registered their buildings and completed the combustible cladding checklist (part 1). If further assessment is required under part 2, this must must be completed by 29 May 2019.

Buildings determined to be affected through this process will be required to display a notice in a conspicuous position on the building and provide a copy of risk assessments to lot owners and tenants.

The website also includes the relevant forms outlined in the regulation, and a FAQ section.
