Collaborating for the Coast

Our fellow Australians know where Noosa is, but don’t know the difference between the Gold and Sunshine Coasts.

That is one of the fundamental challenges facing the Sunshine Coast when trying to attract investment, according to Hon. Mal Brough MP, Federal Member for Fisher.

Last Friday, on a beautiful spring day, 1 members of the property industry converged on The Lakehouse at Brightwater to hear how our three levels of government are ‘Collaborating for the Coast’.

Guest speakers at the event were Cr Mark Jamieson- Mayor of the Sunshine Coast, Hon. Fiona Simpson MP- Member for Maroochydore and Speaker of the Queensland Parliament, and Hon Mal Brough MP- Federal Member for Fisher.

During a panel discussion moderated by Jane Fynes-Clinton- Journalism Lecturer at the University of the Sunshine Coast and Columnist for the Courier Mail, guests heard our politicians’ views on topics ranging from infrastructure and the airport, to how they see the ‘Clive Palmer factor’ impacting on the Coast.

While the three panellists reinforced the need to ‘rethink’ how infrastructure projects are funded and delivered, there was general agreement between the levels of government on which projects should be prioritised.
