Climate Adaptation Discussion Paper

The Queensland Government has released the ‘Advancing Climate Action in Queensland: Making the transition to a low carbon future‘ discussion paper, which will inform one element of the Government’s three part program of work in response to our changing climate.

The discussion paper provides an overview of the threats and opportunities posed by a changing climate, and seeks feedback from stakeholders on the actions Queensland should progress in order to take advantage of the transition to a clean energy, low carbon economy.

Submissions to the discussion paper are due by Friday 5 August. Further information on the submission process and the development of the climate strategy are available through the Government’s consultation webpage.

The other two parts of the Government’s response to our changing climate involve developing a detailed understanding of how global warming will affect Queensland under different warming scenarios, and working with a wide range of sectors to develop a Queensland Climate Adaptation Strategy (QCAS).

As a member of the Government’s Queensland Climate Adaption Strategy Partners group, the Property Council has already been engaged in developing the QCAS, with a draft document due for release later this year.
