City of Sydney draft scaffolding policy

The City of Sydney has released a draft hoardings and scaffoldings policy and guidelines.

The policy outlines minimum requirements for the design, installation and maintenance for scaffolding in the city.

The main aims are to:

  • Provide practical guidelines for the design and placement of temporary structures in a public place
  • Minimise impacts of construction and maintenance activity on the city environment including impacts on pedestrian amenity and safe movement
  • Improve the design quality and appearance of hoardings and scaffolding systems through the use of artwork, high quality images and colours
  • Facilitate the use of green wall (vegetated) hoardings and the projection of digital images on scaffolding construction wraps.

The draft policy is on exhibition until Wednesday 8 October 2014.
