City of Stirling introduces Trees and Development planning amendment

Because of declining tree canopy cover in the City of Stirling, Amendment No. 9 ‘Trees and Development’ to the City’s Local Planning Scheme No.3 has been adopted and approved by the Minister for Planning.

The Amendment sets out new design requirements for trees on development sites, which includes a requirement for one tree per 0m2 of the site.

This can be existing or new trees. The Amendment encourages developers to design around trees or provide for new trees and to enable residents to enjoy the benefits of tree canopy while living in attractive green communities.
