City of Perth unveils designs to revitalise the city’s old buildings
The City of Perth has unveiled several impressive designs to revamp outdated office buildings in Perth’s CBD. The designs include vertical schools, health facilities and student accommodation in the heart of the city.
The details of the six concepts have been released to spark conversation about revitalising Perth CBD, which has the highest office vacancy rates in the country and falling commercial foot traffic since the end of the States mining boom.
The six concepts focus on reshaping the City’s C-grade buildings and were carefully selected based on extensive market research and the opportunity they offer for the sustainable growth of the city.
Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi is in full support of the concepts, speaking to WA Today “With developments such as the new Perth Stadium, Yagan Square, Perth City Link and Elizabeth Quay currently underway, there is no better time to think creatively around the City’s existing building stock can play in shaping Perth’s exciting future,” Ms Scaffidi said.
With the market now beginning to transition to recovery, City of Perth believes this is the perfect time to consider the repositioning of lower grade assets.
