City of Perth Act WelcomedThe Property Council of Australia welcomes the announcement that the WA Government will start drafting a City of Perth Act to introduce into Parliament early next year.”The collaborative approach signposted by the Government, consulting both local governments, ratepayers and businesses, is essential to creating a fair Act that will support the broad community while strategically positioning the city on the global stage, ” said Joe Lenzo, Property Council Executive Director.”A City of Perth Act is proper recognition of the enormous investment going on in the Perth CBD and the economic benefit that will flow to the rest of the State.””The Property Council will be working to ensure that the best outcome for the built environment is reached in whatever the final version of the Act looks like.””Imbuing Perth with the legislative status of a capital places the city on an equal footing with other Australian capitals like Sydney and Melbourne.
