Casual Sophistication at the  Waterbank

Lendlease says the Waterbank project will transform a largely unused six hectare part of the city into a new, urban destination that embraces Perth’s casual sophistication and its unique setting on the banks of the Swan River.

The precinct is being delivered by Lendlease in partnership with the State Government, through the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority.

Managing Director of Lendlease’s Urban Regeneration business in Australia, Jonathan Emery, said the company’s community focused approach to delivering the best places meant Waterbank would ultimately enhance what Perth already has to offer.

“We have engaged hundreds of stakeholders over the last two years to create a place that we believe is global in its ambition, but reflects Perth’s unique way of life and as a result will be embraced by the people of Perth,” he said.

“In particular, we have encapsulated the community desire for new public spaces by creating four hectares of high quality, local and social public areas that are engaging and distinctly Western Australian.

“Many involved in the consultation saw densification of the city as a positive approach to reducing congestion, and delivered increased lifestyle options in the city,” he said.

“It will epitomise the relaxed character of Perth and Western Australians and be a destination where you can ‘kick off your shoes’ and go barefoot; a backyard for Waterbank residents and the community alike.

“We are driven to provide Perth with a sustainable, attractive and accessible city precinct that promotes green building programs, technologies and design practices. The integration of green building initiatives into mainstream design, construction and operation of all buildings on the Waterbank site will set the project apart from the rest.”
