Caretaker conventions in effect
With the State election announced for 31 January the Queensland Government has now entered caretaker mode.
As a result, the Legislative Assembly and all existing Parliamentary Committees (with the exception of the Crime and Corruption Committee) have been dissolved, as have all committee inquiries and referrals.
This includes the State Development, Infrastructure and Industry Committee’s inquiry into the Planning Bills 2014, as well as the Legal Affairs and Community Safety Committee’s inquiry into the Retail Shop Leases Amendment Bill 2014.
When the new Parliament convenes, new Committees will have the power to decide whether to continue an inquiry commenced before the dissolution. The Property Council will keep members updated with further information regarding recommenced or abandoned inquiries after the State election.
