CALL FOR VACCINATION HUB SITES

The Property Council is seeking member input to support the call from Treasurer, Josh Frydenberg, and Coordinator General of the Vaccine Task Force, Lt Gen Frewen, for the private sector to bring forward tangible ideas to support the vaccine rollout.

Industry support for the rollout effort was sought at a business roundtable attended by the Property Council this week.

The Retirement Living Council is already working with members to coordinate the efforts of retirement community operators in supporting this effort and there are ongoing discussions with shopping centre owners to explore their role in establishing vaccine hubs. The Property Council is now putting out the call to all property owners and managers to support the effort.

The Vaccine Task Force anticipates that by the end of September there will be adequate vaccine supply. Beyond this point the challenge will be to increase the capacity of the vaccine distribution network.

The Property Council is asking members to consider offering appropriate sites that could be used for pop-up temporary vaccination centres or any other workable initiatives that could be proposed to assist in the rapid vaccination of Australians.

The Task Force has expressed a preference for outdoor proposals in large capital and regional city locations.

Expressions of interest, proposals, or queries can be made via the Property Council.

Members can also support the vaccination roll out by reinforcing vaccine communication messages to tenants and staff and arranging for staff to be vaccinated by in-workplace providers.
