BUILDING QUEENSLAND RELEASES 2019 INFRASTRUCTURE REPORT

The Queensland Government’s independent infrastructure advisory body, Building Queensland has released their 2019 Infrastructure Pipeline Report.

A total of 18 proposals are moving through the infrastructure pipeline with over 70 per cent progressing since the last report in December 2018. Of the 18 proposals, six have now secured state government funding.

Four new proposals from both education and transport sectors have been added to the pipeline, with strategic business cases underway for Additional Education Capacity in High Growth Areas across Queensland, Additional Primary Schooling Capacity in the Ipswich City Council Area, the M1 Pacific Motorway – Daisy Hill to Loganholme and Loganholme to Nerang.

The Property Council is pleased to see the inclusion of transport corridors for the first time, with Centenary Bridge Upgrade identified as a key component of the overall Centenary Motorway corridor upgrade. The inclusion of transport corridors will provide visibility of the broader planning from which specific proposals are then developed and progressed through the pipeline.

The release of the 2019 Infrastructure Pipeline Report follows the release of Infrastructure Australia’s 2019 Australian Infrastructure Audit last week. The audit is a forward-looking view of Australia’s infrastructure challenges and opportunities, based in part on a national survey to ensure the community’s views are considered.
