Building for Queensland
The Queensland Government has developed an initiative to collect ideas and gain community insight on ways to improve the housing sector, with a focus on housing affordability, reducing homelessness and assisting Queenslanders access the private housing market.
Released in August 2018, the Housing Ideas Bank is an online platform where individuals and non-government organisations can submit ideas to the Department of Housing and Public Works. The Department has highlighted six core areas for ideas, including:
• affordable and innovative housing solutions
• ideas that support vulnerable families
• improving the lives of young people
• providing housing pathways
• supporting seniors
• service delivery transformation
The ideas will be monitored by the Housing Ideas Bank Steering Group, which is made up of representatives from the Department of Housing and Public Works. Successful ideas will then undergo a formal implementation process or be held within the Ideas Bank for future review.
For more information on the Housing Ideas Bank view the Application Guidelines or visit the Department’s website to submit an idea.
