Building audit into non-compliant use of cladding material

Following a recent fire at the Lacrosse Building in the Docklands, the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) is auditing buildings in an effort to identify non-compliant uses of cladding.

The VBA is issuing audit notices to builders and building surveyors in locations with a greater presence of high rise residential buildings. Approximately 170 buildings will be audited.

Buildings which have been identified to be potentially non-compliant will be referred to the local municipal building surveyors for inspection. The VBA will also notify the relevant fire service and post details of the building on the VBA website.
