Brisbane Metro Consultation Report Released
Brisbane City Council has released the Brisbane Metro Draft Design Report Consultation Outcomes, which reviews feedback received from residents and stakeholders, collected during the five-week consultation period earlier this year.
The Consultation Outcomes Document also provides Council’s response to the feedback and resulting updates to the project.
Among these, Council has announced a revised design on Victoria Bridge which reduces the lanes for the Brisbane Metro and bus services to three lanes, adding a separated two-way cycle lane across the bridge and pedestrian pathways instead.
Other key issues raised during the consultation process included:
• Changes to traffic access within the inner city and the removal of general vehicle traffic from Victoria Bridge
• Proposed cycle access along Melbourne Street
• Changes to the bus network and future expansion of the metro service
• Amendments to the Cultural Centre Station
• Changes to the Metro vehicle fleet, including the vehicle design and onboard features
• Environmental impacts
Council will also be hosting community information sessions in West End, Brisbane CBD and South Brisbane during October.
