BCC LGIP amendments

Development applications submitted from 2 July 2018 are subject to new infrastructure charges, due to a recent amendment in Brisbane City Council’s, Brisbane City Plan 2014.

Amendments revise the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) and change the planning horizon to a 10-year term, with a ‘Long-term Infrastructure Plan’ applicable after 30 June 2026.

Key changes in this resolution include:

  • An increase in Council’s infrastructure charges in alignment with the Planning Regulation 2017
  • Incorporating the eligible organisations reduction provisions
  • How credits are worked out
  • Changes to the processes and requirements for the calculation and recalculation of establishment costs for works and land
  • Aligning terminology with the Local Government Infrastructure Plan and Long-Term Infrastructure Plan (which commenced on 29 June 2018).

The Council is offering infrastructure charge incentives to projects that undertake eligible community developments, including new retirement and aged care accommodation.

The Property Council advises its members to check if their properties may be affected by these amendments. More information can be found in the LGIP and long term infrastructure plans pages on Council’s website.
