Brisbane City Council Extends Building and Construction Report

BRISBANE CITY COUNCIL EXTENDS BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT

Following a strong response, Brisbane City Council has extended a range of planning and building initiatives until 31 March 2021.

The initiatives were initially announced on 1 July 2020 to assist the industry in managing the impact of COVID.

The initiatives and discounts that have been extended include:

  • open door prelodgement meeting – % discount continues to 31 March 2021
  • domestic development – % discount continues to 31 March 2021
  • minor development – % discount from 1 January to 31 March 2021
  • eligible organisations – free lodgement continues to 31 March 2021
  • dedicated House and Homes assessment team
  • 133 PLAN (7526) Building and Construction Hotline
  • faster assessment for a request to change a development approval.

Automatic extensions to the currency period of a development approval for one year, with a % discount on the lodgement fee for eligible requests and reduced minimal value for bonding uncompleted works remain in place with the original validity dates offered. 

Brisbane City Council will shut down for Christmas from 24 December until 11 January 2021. During this period, a skeleton staff will work during the week beginning on 4 January to ensure legislative requirements are met for customers.
