Bays market district masterplan underway
Consultants have been appointed to start work on the Bays Market District masterplan with consultation on the masterplan expected to begin later this year
Australian urban designers FJMT will develop the masterplan, and global engineering and development consultancy firm Mott MacDonald will lead a team including engineers from Royal Haskoning DHV and Arcadis to provide engineering services for the construction of a new Sydney Fish Market
Located just two kilometres from Sydney’s CBD, the Bays Market District comprises the waters of Blackwattle Bay and land along Bank Street, Pyrmont, including the Sydney Fish Market. The district is one of eight destinations in The Bays Precinct Urban Transformation Program.
The masterplan will consider opportunities for public open space, community and recreational facilities as well as residential, employment and supporting maritime uses within the district.
The masterplan area includes:
• land along Bank Street, Pyrmont
• the current Sydney Fish Market site
• land at the head of Blackwattle Bay on Bridge Road, Glebe
• water in Blackwattle Bay.
The Property Council will keep members up to date on the masterplan process as it develops.
