Australian recognised in ULI Global awardsPwC’s Clare Sowden has been selected from more than 400 nominations from around the world in the Urban Land Institute’s ’40 Under 40′ competition. The competition recognises the best and brightest land use professionals from around the globe as determined by a jury of ULI members.Sowden, who is associate director in the PwC Real Estate Advisory team, has worked on some of Australia’s largest development projects, including the urban renewal project at Little Bay in Sydney, Lockerbie, Stockland’s new-town project north of Melbourne, and Green Square in Sydney.”Australia is riding a wave of urban renewal that is unprecedented in its history,” she says. “Leading the creation of sustainable, well-designed, and highly liveable communities is a key goal for me. Ironically, it costs nothing to have a vision, but the end cost of not having one is immense. The stakes are too high to not be creating places that inspire people.”The winners were recognised by ULI Global Chairman Lynn Thurber during an address to attendees at the institute’s 2014 Fall Meeting in New York City. “These professionals are already making an impact on the industry,” Thurber said. “They are demonstrating outstanding leadership in all areas of real estate – design, development, finance, planning, sustainability, public policy, and academia.”
