Australian property people in demand in AsiaThere is increasing demand for Australian property expertise from overseas businesses, in particular from South East Asia, according to new research by Gough Recruitment. The company, which specialises in property, development and real estate recruitment, said it has seen 25 per cent growth in demand from offshore for property specialists from Australia, pointing to emerging and growing property markets in South East Asia. There has been particularly strong demand from Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Vietnam, China and Singapore, said Joel Barbuto, CEO of Gough Recruitment.”These markets are growing rapidly and in some cases don’t have the local expertise to service large complex property projects,” he said, noting that the “gateway to Asia” of Singapore is of particular interest to Australians.”This destination is an easy transition because it is reasonably close to Australia, there is no language barrier, the taxes are low and the environment is very clean,” Barbuto noted.”There are currently several drivers for growth in South East Asia including government regulations supporting development, companies choosing joint venture partners to expand and plenty of land for development activities.”Barbuto said key positions in demand overseas include procurement managers, development managers and fund managers.”International developers are moving into South East Asia and looking for skills from experienced expats. Property organisations are seeking to balance their teams with a mix of expats and locals.”
