Apartment design discussion paperA discussion paper has been released by the Minister for Planning to gather perspectives for the development of apartment design guidelines in Victoria.’Better Apartments – A Discussion Paper’ is the beginning of a broader engagement process by Government that will focus on the design of apartments. It invites comments on various issues affecting amenity, including daylight, sunlight, outlook, space, natural ventilation, noise, outdoor space, adaptability, landscape, universal design, energy and resources, waste, car parking and entry/circulation. Sadly, the pre-eminent issue of affordability only receives scant mention. The Property Council is coordinating a response to the discussion paper. Submissions are open until the end of July with draft guidelines to be released in late 2015 and a final report to be released in mid-2016.
