All eyes on Westport
The future of Fremantle Port and the potential development of Westport was the focus of attention at an industrial land seminar event held by the Property Council recently.
Nicole Lockwood, Chair of the Westport Taskforce was a guest speaker at the industrial land seminar and spoke predominantly about the inner workings and objectives of the Westport Taskforce.
“Westport will deliver an integrated strategy to meet freight and trade logistics for Perth and surrounding regions for the next -100 years.” Said Ms Lockwood
“The Westport Taskforce is committed to engaging with stakeholders and the community at all stages of the project,”
“We have established a steering committee and reference group which has community, government and private sector representation to feed commentary directly into review process,”
“The Westport: Port and Environs Strategy will provide guidance to Government on the planning, development and growth of the Port of Fremantle at the Inner and Outer harbours, the required rail and road networks, and the potential for the Port of Bunbury to contribute to the handling of the growing trade task.” Ms Lockwood said.
Nicole advised that comments from the Westport Discussion Paper are currently being collated and will be released in the coming weeks. The final Westport Strategy is due for completion in September 2019.
