National review of the effectiveness of compliance and enforcement systems for the building and construction industry
Our Planning and Infrastructure Committee is currently reviewing the recommendations from a national review of the effectiveness of compliance and enforcement systems for the building and construction industry across Australia focussing on the recommendations that affect the Northern Territory.
We are also working with the National Property Council Office on a nation-wide response.
This review was triggered by concerns over building compliance and enforcement in the building and construction industry following the Grenfell Tower fire in London and the Lacrosse building fire in Melbourne.
The report, Building Confidence – Improving the effectiveness of compliance and enforcement systems for the building and construction industry across Australia (the Report) was released in April 2018 and made 24 recommendations.
