Acting US Ambassador James Carouso Visits NT

President of the Property Council NT Division, Adrian Handford and myself attended a meet and greet with the Ambassador and members of the delegation Monday night.

Several US Companies are looking for infrastructure opportunities in the Territory and looking to expand on their $1.5 trillion investment into Australia. He said that the $2 billion cost sharing agreement for the US marine rotation is likely to still get the go ahead.

Last week at an election speech the Acting Ambassador reiterated “Australia and America look to each other. In good times and bad, we look to each other for leadership, regionally and globally. We look to each other for the trade and investment that keeps our economies growing. We look to each other regardless of who sits in the Lodge, or the White House, because we are mates.”

Mr. Carouso has spent a lot of time in South-East Asia in his former career and saw the linkage to Australia from that point, most notably, the Northern Territory being the Gateway. He is speaking with US Companies to encourage them to look outside of the major cities in Australia and see the advantage and opportunity of establishing here in the Territory.
