Division Council

I am really pleased to announce that following National Board approval, the ACT Division Council and Management Committee has been appointed for 2017-2019.

We have expanded the Division Council to 19 Members for a number of reasons including getting the right mix of experience and expertise, ensuring both major universities are represented, and increasing the diversity of the Council.

As such, I am pleased to introduce to you the Office Holders, Management Committee and list of Division Council Members.

George D Katheklakis, – ACT Division Council President
Managing Director, KDN Group

George has a unique understanding of Australian property development, having gained extensive architectural, development management, property management and investment experience over more than 20 years in the industry.   He is currently a Director of the KDN Group where he has successful managed and overseen major projects in both the multi-unit residential and commercial office sectors.  Significant industry award winning achievements include the recently completed Winyu House in Gungahlin for the ACT Government, Linq Apartments in Belconnen and The Barrandi Centre at 16 Marcus Clarke St, Civic.

George is committed to Canberra and is keen to foster better outcomes for all stakeholders in what he considers to be a city with wonderful potential. He has been a Board member of In The City Canberra since 2013 and this is his second term as President of the ACT Division of the Property Council of Australia.  

 

David Maxwell – ACT Division Vice President
Director, Riverview Group

David Maxwell has been Director of the Riverview Group and the other Corkhill companies since 2003. In his current role, David has overseen the investment in and development of all of the company’s major projects.  

David has accumulated more than 30 years’ experience in real estate and major property development since beginning his career with residential real estate company, Woodger Corporation. David fulfilled the role of National Development Manager (Property Development) for Woolworths Limited, and over the 10 years with the company was involved in the completion of also thirty-five (35) development projects throughout Australia.

He has extensive experience in property investment, financial services, consultancy and property development.

Heather Kent – ACT Division Vice President
Property Investment Manager, ISPT

Heather has 25 years as a property professional, previously with Lend Lease, JLL and GE Capital.

Currently the Property Investment Manager for the Industry Superannuation Property Trust’s (ISPT)  Canberra Portfolio – 137,000 sqm,  circa $870 million.

ISPT is one of Australia’s largest unlisted property fund managers.  Today more than % of Australian workers have their retirement savings invested in property through ISPT.

 

Chris Wheeler – ACT Division Treasurer
Partner, King & Wood Mallesons

Chris specialises in commercial property and development projects, advising in relation to major property projects including acquisitions and disposals (commercial, retail and residential), innovative sustainability developments and commercial matters often involving sensitive and business critical issues. He often heads submissions and delegations to government advocating reform and pressing the concern of the property and legal sectors.

 Chris has worked on some of the largest development projects in the Territory and has assisted with crafting and implementing the new $ multi million UC Bruce Campus development project.

 

Médy Hassan – Management Committee
Managing Director, Haus Holdings

Médy Hassan is the founder and Managing Director of property and investment group Haus Holdings, co-founder and Director of private equity group Vitae Capital and an Adjunct Professor at RMIT. With more than 30 years’ industry experience, Médy specialises in capital and ‘whole of life’ investment, innovative delivery models, and the development of major residential, commercial and special purpose projects in both Australia and overseas.

He has worked with all three tiers of Australian government, major national institutions and private sector investors. Médy has built a reputation as an industry leader able to deliver real-world outcomes with global reach. Committed to giving back to industry and the community, Médy contributes to national industry bodies at a senior level, sits on private sector and academic research boards including the Queensland Brain Institute (UQ), the John Curtin Medical Research Foundation (ANU) and the Centre for Integrated Project Solutions (RMIT) and guides emerging talent to support the industry’s evolution.

 

Arabella Rohde – Management Committee
Senior Development Manager, University of Canberra

With over 18  years in the property and construction industry, Arabella has a background in urban planning and sustainable development and has held diverse roles across Australia. Her industry experience includes a wide range government and private projects in commercial, residential, education, recreational and infrastructure projects.

Arabella also is the chair of the Planning & Sustainable Development Committee.

 

Andrew Balzanelli – Management Committee
Managing Director, JLL

Andrew, a Regional Director, is Managing Director for the ACT operation. Andrew’s role is to assist owners to position their assets correctly in the market place to realize the maximum value of their investment.

Andrew has been involved in the property industry for over thirty seven  years. Since joining JLL in 1988, Andrew has been successfully leasing and positioning commercial property for lease and sale in Sydney’s Southern and Northern suburbs and within the CBD from 1996 to 2009. In April 2009 Andrew relocated to Canberra to take up the role of Managing Director for the ACT.

Andrew specialises in project marketing and has been involved with marketing some of Australia’s most prominent office towers. He is immensely aware of the importance of effectively positioning opportunities when first offered to the market.

Andrew has an acute understanding of the Canberra market and has been active in both sales and leasing where he has assisted clients in the disposal and leasing of their commercial properties.

Andrew is also the chair of the Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee.
