Accreditation and Code of Conduct update

Earlier this year we announced a partnership with Leading Age Services Australia (LASA) to develop and jointly manage a new retirement living sector accreditation scheme.

The enhancements to accreditation, along with the development of the new industry Code of Conduct, are key planks of our industry 8-point plan announced last year.

A joint Management Committee has been created to oversee the development of the new accreditation scheme. This committee consists of:

Nicholas Playoust, AEH Retirement Living (Chair)
Beth Littler, Churches of Christ Queensland (Deputy Chair)
Alison Quinn, RetireAustralia
Kim Teudt, Blue Care
Nick Loudon, Seasons Aged Care
Paul Murphy, LASA

Underneath this committee, a series of work streams have been created to focus on the particular elements of the scheme’s development, including the revision and creation of new accreditation standards, the selection of audit partners, the development of the scheme’s operating model (ensuring it is affordable and accessible) and the new scheme’s brand and marketing.

All these work streams are being led by leading representatives from Property Council and LASA members, including many small and not-for-profit operator representatives. The aim is to launch the new scheme in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The development of the Code of Conduct is also now under the supervision of the Management Committee, with a view to releasing consultation draft to all industry stakeholders within the next few weeks.

If you are a member of the Property Council or LASA and want to be involved in the development of the new accreditation scheme and Code of Conduct, please contact Andrew Lowcock at the Property Council or Paul Murphy at LASA.
