A Stronger Together State Infrastructure Strategy Discussion Paper released
Infrastructure WA has released its discussion paper, A Stronger Tomorrow, to support a strong, resilient and diversified economy.
The paper acknowledges the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the work of the State Recovery Advisory Group on a State Recovery Plan to focus on health, economy and infrastructure, social, industry and regions. The key strategic objectives include enhancing cross-government co-ordination and planning; supporting population growth and change; maximising liveability; and cultural strategy opportunities for our community; making the most of regional strengths to unlock strategic opportunities for Western Australia; supporting access to social services and improving Aboriginal wellbeing; addressing climate change and increasing resilience; embracing technology, data and digital connectivity; enhancing infrastructure delivery and developing skills for the future; and getting the most from infrastructure and improving maintenance.
Property Council WA is encouraged to see the ingredients for a strong property sector are part of the discussion. It singles out industrial land and residential development and acknowledges the need for better co-ordination in planning using Perth and Peel @3.5 million as an anchor document.
The paper focuses on infrastructure needs in transport, energy, water, waste, education and training, health, digital connectivity and telecommunications, social and affordable housing, justice and public safety, the arts, culture, sport and recreation. Submissions close on August 21.
