A new State leadership team for Townsville

On Friday 13 March three of the new Members of Parliament now representing Townsville introduced themselves to industry at the Property Council’s first Townsville event for 2015.

The recent change of Government has led to an overhaul of State level leadership in Townsville, with only one of the region’s five Members returning for another term.

Despite only being in their roles a short time, and not yet participating in a Parliamentary sitting, Hon. Coralee O’Rourke MP, Member for Mundingburra and Minister for Disability Services, Minister for Seniors and Minister Assisting the Premier on North Queensland, Aaron Harper MP Member for Thuringowa and Scott Stewart MP Member for Townsville all were kind enough to give their time to meet with industry.

The session began with each Member providing a brief background on themselves, their careers up to this point and the policy issues keeping them awake at night.

The Members stressed their commitment to working with industry and the Townsville community to ensure the best outcomes for the region. All three also discussed the ALP’s focus on job creation as a key driver of improving the State’s economic outlook and committed to ensuring North Queensland received its share of the Government’s attention.
