A new era of fiscal policy
The Queensland Government’s first term has been typified by no frills budgets, and conservative financial policy aimed at returning the state to a budget surplus.
However, at the Property Council’s Annual Treasurer’s Address on October 24 2014, the Hon. Tim Nicholls MP – Treasurer and Minister for Trade presented a very different fiscal outlook for the State.
Over 2 members of Queensland’s property industry attended the downtown luncheon at which the Treasurer outlined the current state of Queensland’s finances, and discussed the opportunities presented by the Strong Choices Plan and the Strong Choices Investment Program.
The Treasurer also took questions from the floor, focusing on the Government’s decision to lease, rather than sell assets and opportunities for an unsolicited proposals framework in Queensland.
The Property Council would like to thank the Treasurer for taking the time to present to the industry and for his ongoing engagement with the property sector. Thanks must also go our event sponsors Turner and Townsend, whose support throughout 2014 has been greatly appreciated.
