A message from the Lord Mayor of Adelaide

In exciting news for the property sector, I have great pleasure in announcing Council’s plans to increase demand for commercial space in the City of Adelaide. On Monday night, we launched Ten Gigabit Adelaide to more than 0 building owners, businesses and industry representatives at an electrifying event in Adelaide Town Hall.

The network will be progressively rolled out to 1,000 buildings within the next two years, with 40 already connected.

As a revolutionary high-speed fibre optic data network, Ten Gigabit Adelaide is specifically designed for big data users located in the City of Adelaide, giving building owners and businesses a distinct competitive advantage.

It will enable businesses to access phenomenal 10Gbps data speeds and provide secure and direct connectivity to the cloud, as well as quickly and easily exporting their services to the world.

Many of you would know that Australian telecommunications giant TPG Telecom was recently appointed by Council as our ‘Official Network Provider’ to deliver and install the new fibre optic network.

TPG and Council have been inundated with registrations from businesses wanting to plug into Ten Gigabit Adelaide and we are delighted that, as you read this, businesses are now being connected to immediately reap the benefits.

Ten Gigabit Adelaide will not only ensure local businesses have access to 21st century big data and communications-enabling services, it will also attract new investment from interstate and overseas, furthering our reputation as a connected, smart, entrepreneurial and intelligent city.

Ten Gigabit Adelaide will help Adelaide retain, grow and attract new businesses, creating jobs, driving innovation and delivering economic and social returns for our city.

Ten Gigabit Adelaide particularly benefits data-intensive industries such as creative, biomedical, finance, defence, advanced manufacturing, information management and cyber security.

Ten Gigabit Adelaide will underpin future innovation in areas such as robotics, artificial intelligence, way-finding, 3D printing and augmented reality.

I want to thank Daniel Gannon and his team for being strong advocates for Ten Gigabit Adelaide. I know Daniel views Ten Gigabit Adelaide as a key ingredient in addressing office vacancy rates and, from day one, he really has been a strong supporter of what Council is trying to achieve with this network.

I am delighted to advise you that building owners and property managers are now being contacted to confirm that their building has been invited to be connected to Ten Gigabit Adelaide.

Importantly, there is no charge for the installation of a Ten Gigabit Adelaide access point into buildings. This presents a considerable saving for building owners.

Pricing for Ten Gigabit Adelaide services is also substantially less than what is currently on offer in the market – making it very attractive and accessible for a wide range of industries.

I have no doubt there will be a high demand for Ten Gigabit Adelaide connections and, in turn, this will help to retain and attract tenancies to your buildings. Ten Gigabit Adelaide will fundamentally change how Adelaide does business with the world, giving building owners a strong and competitive advantage.

As the most transformational infrastructure investment ever undertaken by the City of Adelaide, I cannot emphasise enough how beneficial this will be for the property sector and how excited we are to be able to provide buildings – and tenants – with Ten Gigabit Adelaide access.
