$6 million Crown Towers Perth welcomes the high rollers

Opening its doors in December, the luxury 0-room Crown Towers Perth is the next stage in the major redevelopment of the Burswood Peninsula.

In 2004, Crown took ownership of the former Burswood International Resort Casino complex, and commenced an expansive eight-year $7 million development and renovation plan to transition the property into a premium tourist destination.

Crown Towers Perth, constructed by Multiplex at a cost of $6 million, sits alongside the existing casino resort and will increase accommodation within the complex to more than 1,180 rooms.

“It’s the most expensive hotel ever constructed in Australia,” executive general manager Andrew Cairns has said.

Designed by Bates Smart, Michael Fiebrich and Blainey North, the hotel features seven-metre high ceilings in the lobby, custom-designed furniture, hand-blown glass lighting, and generous rooms with panoramic views of Perth’s skyline.

Guests have access to 35 restaurants and bars within the complex, a 1,300 sqm spa with 13 separate treatment rooms, as well as event facilities, a 2,300-seat theatre and 24-hour casino.

The two-storey Chairman’s Villa, with floor space equivalent to two basketball courts, includes four bedrooms, a grand central staircase, a wrap-around balcony and full butler service.

More than 8,0 sqm of Roman travertine stone has been used across the hotel, while more than 100,000 plants and 575 trees will be planted on site, including an internal frangipani tree.

Perched on the banks of the Swan River and a 15-minute drive from the city centre, the hotel will be next door to the new Perth Stadium, which is set to open in 2017. Qantas’ decision to launch direct non-stop flights to London from March 2018 is expected to bring more high-rollers to the hotel.

According to WA Premier Colin Barnett, the hotel will provide a major boost to tourism in WA. “While they are not related, Crown Towers and the Perth Stadium signal the major redevelopment of the Burswood Peninsula with ‘people activity’ and landscaped gardens.”

A major boost for the construction industry in Perth, the project employed more than 2,0 people during development, while 0 jobs have been created to operate the hotel, spa facilities, fine dining and casual restaurants, as well as the retail outlets and event space.

Crown Australia’s chief executive officer Barry Felstead has said the development “will help to keep the West Australian economy growing and stimulate more international and interstate events, conferences and conventions to be held locally.”

“The size and opulence of Crown Towers Perth is breathtaking and marks a huge step forward in WA’s luxury tourism offering,” Cairns says.
