480 Queen Street Site Tour

The Property Council’s Queensland Future Directions Committee hosted a site tour of the newest addition to Brisbane’s office market:  480 Queen Street.

Guests were given the 360 on 480 – with a behind the scenes tour showcasing the building’s architecture and amenities, providing access beyond the impressive public spaces to the Room480 food destination, an office tenancy and the exciting new retail spaces.

Following the tours, guests reconvened at the rooftop tree grove for drinks, canapés and presentations from those instrumental in achieving the 480 vision. The panel, moderated by Jaime Burnell – Dexus Property Group’s 480 Queen Street Asset Manager, included:

  • Brian Donovan, Principal – BVN
  • Matt Leyshon, Project General Manager – Grocon
  • Mark Grant, Partner – White & Partners

Brian Donovan spoke of the overarching focus on the public realm experience of the building. With publicly accessible parks and connectivity through to key public spaces, the building has been designed to ‘give back to the city’.

The building is Brisbane’s first steel frame office tower construction since the 1970s. By using this construction method scaffolding and associated high-risk trades were avoided, improving the safety conditions of the site.

From a leasing perspective, Matt Leyshon outlined how 480’s design allows for greater usage out of existing floor plates – providing tenants will significant capacity for expansion. Many tenants have been attracted to the new building for the opportunity to align their brands with the cutting edge architecture and amenity of the new building.

Mark Grant from White & Partners, the tenant advisor for BHP, said the project was exciting to be a part of with a lot of commercial risks being taken to make it a reality.

The Property Council would like to thank Jaime Burnell and the panel members for their contribution to the site tour and panel discussions, along with Savills Project Management for their generous sponsorship of the Future Directions event series.
