30 June deadline looms for applications under City Plan 2000

Landowners have until 30 June 2015 to lodge applications under the superseded Brisbane City Plan 2000, rather than Brisbane City Plan 2014.

Section 95 of the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 (SPA) allows for a request for a development proposal to be assessed under the provisions of a superseded planning scheme within one year of the new scheme commencing.

Councils are provided the ability to decide under which plan an application will be assessed, in the case of Brisbane, under Brisbane City Plan 2000 or Brisbane City Plan 2014.

To be assessed under Brisbane City Plan 2000, proponents must submit a written request to Council before 30 June which includes the reasons for the assessment under the superseded plan and must include a description or a copy of the proposed development.

The superseded Brisbane City Plan 2000 can be found here, and Brisbane City Plan 2014 can be found here.

More information on applying under Brisbane City Plan 2000 can be found here.
