2017-18 Committees wrapping up: Residential Property and Retirement Living

As we are nearing the end of the year, our Committees are holding the final meetings of their 2017-18 term!

WA Residential Property and Retirement Living Committees have held their final meetings this month, and as we wrap up a busy two years with the committees it’s important to acknowledge the hard work our members have invested in pushing for genuine change in the property industry.

The Residential Property and Retirement Living Committees have both played a vital part in our advocacy. The Committees have helped build and shape some of Property Council’s major advocacy priorities such as METRONET precinct planning and delivery, and the partial lifting of memorials on a title, as well as assisting in the formation of submissions on critical reform initiatives such as the Planning Reform Green Paper, Retirement Villages Act Review and the Local Government Act Review.

Many Committee members have willingly volunteered to participate on working groups and sub-committees, providing expert insights into industry issues. Committee members have also played an important role in the success of our events by participating as guest speakers and panellists.

The Retirement Living Committee were pivotal to the success of three great Retirement Living themed events over the last year, including the annual Retirement Living Conference. The Committee also played a significant role in contributing to the advocacy priorities of the Retirement Living Council including providing industry feedback on the 8-Point Plan and the Retirement Living industry’s Code of Conduct.

The Residential Property Committee have been integral to the success of our advocacy and events, including the annual Multi-Unit Conference. Many members put their hands up to participate as judges, be part of panel discussions and sit on sub-committees to delve into issues impacting the residential property sector.

Our members are at the heart of what we do and are fundamental to every aspect of the Property Council. The WA Property Council highly values the contribution all committee members have made over the past two years. We’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you for assisting us to advocate for a better, stronger and more prosperous WA.
