2015 Retirement Living Outlook

The 2015 Retirement Living Outlook Seminar held on 28th May 2015 attracted 100 delegates. Feedback received indicated the delegates were happy with the information presented.

Catherine Scott, Legal Policy Officer of the Department of Commerce provided a summary of the changes to the amendments to the Retirement Villages Act 1992 that were implemented on 1st April 2015 and a brief of what changes may be expected in Bill 2.

The delegates were encouraged to participate in a survey the result of which would provide our industry with quantifiable evidence of the value of the retirement industry in Western Australia. This information will be used by the Property Council and retirement living members, to inform and advocate to Government, the importance of policy decisions and long term plans that will support rather than block the growth and development of the retirement living industry.

The delegates also learned about the Aged Care Rule in Victoria. Scott Hartley, Managing Partner of Operational Advisory at Grant Thornton provided a detailed analysis of the rule and the consequences as a result of its implementation.

The delegates enjoyed a networking session of light refreshments after the conclusion of the seminar.
