2015 OMR Breakfast touts optimism
Peter Hyland, Regional Director – Urbis kicked off the Property Council’s 2015 events calendar on Thursday February 5th with his annual analysis of the Office Market Report.
Despite record vacancy in Brisbane’s CBD and Fringe markets, Peter focused on Queensland’s positive economic prospects and forecast long term white collar employment growth as signs that the Brisbane market would recover.
Peter also focused on dispelling industry’s uncertainty and apprehension towards the new year, discussing the importance of maintaining the levels of confidence earned by the property industry over the past three years and stressing that our industry has thrived under governments of both colours.
Peter’s presentation also discussed the vacancy trends in the Brisbane Airport, Brisbane Technology Park, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.
After breakfast, Peter was invited to return to the stage for a panel session featuring John McDonald, Divisional Director – Office Leasing – Savills and Vanessa Bedelis, National Leasing Manager – Commercial – ISPT and moderated by the Property Council Commercial and Corporate Real Estate Committee Chair, Christine O’Hara, General Manager – Investa.
The discussion ranged from the movement of major tenants between the Fringe market and the CBD to the future of Brisbane suburban commercial markets and the impact of Brisbane’s new stock pipeline.
The Property Council would sincerely like to thank John McDonald, Vanessa Bedelis and Christine O’Hara for their contribution to the morning’s panel session. Special thanks must also go to Peter Hyland for once again providing his expert analysis of the Office Market Report data.
