12 winners announced for Oracle apartment trial
After the highly successful pop up apartment in Forrest Chase in early November, the WA Apartment Advocacy distilled the 600 entries received down to 12 lucky sets of people who were announced at a VIP event at Oracle.
Each of the 12 lucky groups will trial living at Oracle apartments in the CBD for free for a month, commencing in January 2018.
The Oracle guests will move into the apartment during their appointed month and enjoy all the benefits of apartment living including the rooftop terrace entertaining suite, as if they were a permanent resident.
Ms Reece, Director of WAAA and the instigator of the experiment, stated that there was a wide cross section of respondents who would now be able to try the apartment lifestyle without any obligation.
“We have families with kids under 4, tweenies and also teenagers moving into the apartment over the next 12 months,” Ms Reece said.
“This is supplemented with young graduates, baby boomers, retirees and even seniors aged over 70.
“This research, we believe, will demonstrate that apartment living is not just confined to the young and empty nesters.
“As it is, Perth is ranked second behind Sydney for the number of families living in apartments and only 5% of retirees nationally will move into a retirement village. On that basis we have to start thinking about how we adapt apartment living to these various age groups and what they are seeking in their respective homes.”
The project, which was held jointly with apartment developer Blackburne, will seek to video record each winners experience in the apartment, to provide an insight about the pluses and any draw backs with apartment living.
Mr Paul Blackburne, Managing Director of Blackburne stated that this social experiment would assist a number of people who were currently sitting on the cusp of apartment living.
“These respondents had a number of concerns including noise, privacy, the size of the apartment and generally the change from something they have always known, being a traditional home,” Mr Blackburne said.
“However the successful respondents last night were also excited about the opportunities.
“Many of them work in the city and hence the commute time would be drastically reduced. It also meant that they could enjoy 5 star amenities which many of them have not experienced in the past.”
